Snorkeling at Cano Island

We leave from Pirate Cove Hotel in Drake Bay most mornings between 7-7:30 a.m. with stops at other hotels to pick up additional guests. The trip to the island lasts approximately 45 minutes, during which we sometimes see dolphins and whales (in season). Upon arrival we land on the island to register with the park guards.

Each snorkeling session lasts between 45-60 minutes. Before the first one, our qualified snorkeling guides will give a briefing on what to expect and inform all guests on security requirements. Then the guide will hand out all equipment and inflatable snorkeling vests to each client, which are obligatory.

Following the first snorkeling experience, guests are given light refreshments on the boat (normally water or fresh juices and fruit) and then put on the beach for a rest period of 30 minutes or so. The second tour (another 45 minutes) is followed by the return trip to Pirate Cove for a delicious lunch.

All in all, this tour is apt for both children and adults in reasonable health and you can expect to see lots of sea life at depths of 30-60 feet while you float calmly on the surface, accompanied by your guide.
